UK Status Resident. Widespread and common throughout the British Isles. Montgomeryshire Status Recorded from two county locations but, as it feeds on gorse, it is probably more prevalent than this. Wingspan : M & F, 11-15mm. Confusion species None. |
Flight time & Voltinity
(Univoltine)  Habitat Heathland and wasteland. Foodplant Gorse and broom. Lifestage data Bud miner. Eggs, oviposition site unobserved. Larva makes a small hole in a bud that isn't quite open and feeds within, this process is repeated several times. Pupates in a fragile cocoon amongst leaf litter on ground. |
